Globals Foundation starts its worldwide offensive against intolerance, discrimination and incomprehension

Website: www.globals.me offers understanding, awareness, knowledge and contact between different cultures to increase respect

Nationalist and far-right parties have made gains in the European elections. Muslim hatred and anti-Semitism are rising. Intolerance of sexual minorities, Roma, Sinti and foreigners is still present. Globals Foundation tries to counteract these developments. By bringing young people worldwide in contact with each other on an interactive internet platform and offering them knowledge about conflicts in the world, Globals wishes to increase understanding of and respect for other cultures.

The foundation has been established by Dutch students, who noticed that few of their peers were informed of conflicts and humanitarian crises that are going on and that it was hard to access such information. This lack of knowledge means that understanding for the people living in these hard circumstances is often missing. But young people are the participants of the global world of tomorrow, so it is important to increase respect for other cultures among them. As respect will lead to more peaceful contact between different groups, which will lead to a more peaceful world. Even if it is not a magic cure for instant world peace: knowledge, awareness, understanding and contact are four vital conditions of a peaceful world.

Globals offers knowledge through the online database with accessible and neutral articles on conflicts. Awareness will be enhanced by the contract visitors are asked to sign, which makes the signatory a Global and declares to respect all people, regardless of their race, nationality, religion or sex. The worldwide forum will improve understanding, visitors from different cultures and backgrounds are able to talk with each other about various subjects. Contact will be increased by the meeting point on the website, where Globals can organise meetings with new people. When someone, for example, studies abroad, has moved to a new city or likes to meet international people in his own city. These four elements are united on the website www.globals.me.

Dutch politician and United Nations diplomat Jan Pronk is a supporter of the foundation, and currently already @@ different nationalities have signed the contract.
