How do you greet people? 1 Year, 5 Months ago
I think it is kind of interesting to see the differences in how people greet each other.
What do people in your country do? Shake hands? kiss? give a hug?
Maybe if we can unite all those ways here, we can avoid the awkward moments when both people try to do something different

I think in the Netherlands in general, on formal moments and when you don't know each other that well, we shake hands. If you're familiar with each other, you can give each other three kisses on the cheeks as well (I think we're the only country giving three kisses instead of two) but only in a situation with two women or a woman and a man. Guys generally don't kiss

Here in Italy, on formal moments (like a business meeting), we shake hands .. We give two kisses on the cheek, even when you are not very familiar.. often we add a hug when we are very happy to see someone.
Italians are very affectionate, in every situation (also men kissing each other, but when they are already friends)
We immediately become attached to people, just going out with someone for a week and for us it is already a dear friend!
I did not know that in the Netherlands giving three kisses instead of two!
Good to know

O gosh, the 3 or 2 kisses is always so embarrassing! When I just moved to Paris I was so used to giving 3 kisses, it always ended in an uncomfortable situation where I was reaching to one's cheek to give another kiss, while the other one didn't...
I adapted fast

A good thing though I learned there, is greeting people of my age (friends from friends) with a kiss (or 2 in fact) on the cheeks. It gives an immediate friendly feeling. I wish we would do that in Holland too, sometimes I do but it's not common.

I have to say 3 kisses is a lot! Really have no idea where that comes from...
With friends I see frequently, we always kiss once. It saves time haha no, I think that means here you see each other very often =)
