Best city to shop? 2 Years, 8 Months ago

What is your favourite shopping city?
I think mine is still Amsterdam, especially the nine streets. Paris is cool, but it's hard to
find the good shops and it's huge, in Amsterdam u can walk everything, that's what I like too about it!

I would go for Haarlem. Smaller then Amsterdam but still enough stores especially a lot of clothes stores. Too bad that the comicbook store closed
I like the Haarlemmerstraat/Haarlemmerdijk in Amsterdam as well Was able to get my chinese chessboard there
Leiden is ok as well. Smaller then Haarlem or Amsterdam but everything you need is here and there is some, imho, awesome gift store where you can find the most crazy stuff
Utrecht is ok as well and Zwolle can be nice although Zwolle has not much of a real historic center

Amsterdam is great! But I love The Hague aswel
Abroad I really liked Oxford when I was there for a very short time.
I was in Milan this year but I must say that I was a little dissapointed because I had expected so much of it.
I must say though that I find it really hard to discover good streets to shop abroad. It's usually easy to go to the main street and then stick to stores you have everywhere like H&M or Zara

I reckognize the don't know where to find the cool strees exactly.. We should write down here all the cool places which are not the mainstreets in cities, where you can shop better
Amsterdam: 9 streets
Paris: 2d arrondissement (cute stores) and in the 6th arrondisemment there are a lot of nice stores. 66 in the Champs Elysées is cool too though, even though most shops there are Zara, Mango, etc.. In 66 they have really nice brands!

Thanks!
I live in Naples, but every winter I fly to Milan
and I go directly to "The Golden Quadrilateral"!
It's a fashion district formed by 4 streets (Via Montenapoleone,
via Manzoni, Via della Spiga e Corso Venezia) + the inland (Via Borgospesso,
Via Sant'Andrea, etc.)..it's full of amazing stores!
In Piazza Del Duomo there's also a department store "La Rinascente"
(It have a rooftop restaurant and cafe with
views of the cathedral!)

I always hear that Milan is not as good to shop as everyone thought, but I guess they just don't know where to go. Like in Paris or Amsterdam, you have to know where the good ones are! So thanks for the tips
Also a new tip:
On the Rue the Rivoli in Paris are a lot of big brands (Zara, mango, h&m, sephora), but there its also Stradivarius.
We dont have it in Holland but I absolutely love it!

Milan is very much expensive..
the fashion district has high quality shops like those in PC Hoofstraat.
If you want to do good business you have to go to Castel Romano (near Rome). It's an outlet with 110 stores and discounts from 30% to 70% throughout the year.

Wow the Castel Romano sounds great Rome is still on my to-visit list, so if I'm going I will definitely pay a visit to it.
THe PC Hoofstraat shops are quite expensive indeed, but also very pretty. A complete city full of that seems amazing! Tickets from Amsterdam to Milan are very cheap so I've heard, so maybe that's easier to visit than Milan. For not it's still daydreaming, but when I have a bit more time again I will certainly will go to Italy, finally !

Ahahaha..yes!But only the fashion quarter and the center of the city are full of very expensive shops!
Anyway, Milan and Rome are beautiful!..But if you come here in spring/summer you should absolutely visit "the Amalfitan coast"!Amalfi e Positano, with their blue sea and citrus fragrance, leave you speechless!
You can find indeed, many italian and international vip on this coast , like Giorgio Armani,Liam Gallagher,Dustin Hoffmann,Naomi Campbell or Ben Stiller! Also Sorrento and Salerno are great cities!(and Pompei..if you care to see the excavations!)

Wow this looks really beautiful. Unfortunately I only spent one week in Milan two years ago and one week in Rome when I was about 15.
I should definitely see a bit more of Italy

Does anybody have any ideas where to go in Berlin? I'm going there during the x-mas holiday. I will probably be spending quite some time in Kreuzberg and probably also going to the Kaufhaus des Westens.

Wow looks beautiful Kiara!
Jos - I visited Berlin only once very shortly, but from the cultural things I liked the Jewish museum and the Pergamon museum a lot. I only went for shopping in a very large and chique Allee (forgot about the name)...
But I really like to go to Berlin again and find more out, so tips are welcome .

Hi Jos, nice to meet you!
I’ve never been to Berlin but it’s on my list of places to see!
Maybe I can give you some ideas anyway.
In Niederkirchnerstrasse there is an outdoor museum (on the same site where the headquarters of the Gestapo and the SS were located) with many photos about nazism.
You can visit the Brandeburg Gate and the the Reichstag (but I think that has been closed yesterday, over fears of a terrorist attack), The Altes Museum..there are also the "St. Hedwigs Kathedrale" (it was modeled after the Pantheon in Rome) and Potsdamer Platz (where are there: "Café Josty", "Sony Center" and the "Panoramapunkt" viewing platform).
Located in Goltzstrasse there is the famous "Cafè M."
And in Leuschnerdamm 25(kreuzberg),there's "Henne", a pub serving the best chicken in Berlin.
I hope you have fun!!!

It was really legen-dary Sjoerdje, i'm already making plans to go there again. I did not do any shopping while there, but i did go to the Kaufhaus des Westens. It's an enormous department store, particularly the deli section was impressive. It had an insane amount of choice.
We visited a lot of historical things, such as the former Stasi prison where we had a tour from a former prisoner who had been really traumatized by his experiences there. We visited the villa where the Wannsee conference was held as well.
The Neue National Galerie has a lot of amazing modern art works, especially from before world war II. A lot of the works had been banned during the nazi administration because they were to abstract. The building itself is also quite astonishing.
Berlin is huge, we spent one week there, and visited about 2 different things a day, and i still want to see so many things there.
